16 Days of Activism
We’re joining the global movement for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a campaign aimed at ending violence against women and girls.
Running from Monday 25 November to Tuesday 10 December, the campaign encourages individuals, communities, and organisations to take a stand and be part of the solution.
In the Northern Territory, where the rates of domestic and family violence are among the highest in Australia, the 16 Days of Activism holds special significance. This year’s focus emphasises the power of collective action to create safer, more inclusive communities for all. Across the NT, events and activities will shine a light on prevention, support for survivors, and the importance of challenging harmful attitudes and behaviours.
We will feature some of the great work being done across the Territory to address this issue and the shine a line on the people and organisations making a difference.
“Violence against women is not just a women’s issue—it affects families, workplaces, and entire communities,” said Chief Executive Officer, Emma White. “In the NT, we must come together to address the root causes and work toward a future where everyone feels safe and respected.”
Community members are encouraged to participate by attending events, wearing orange—the campaign’s symbolic colour - or sharing messages of support online. Small actions, like starting conversations or checking in on loved ones, can also make a big difference.
This is more than just a campaign - it’s a call to action for everyone in the NT to step up, speak out, and support the ongoing challenge of gender-based violence. Together, we can build a safer, stronger Territory.
