16 Days of Activism: Department of Education and Training

Published

Today, as part of our 16 Days of Activism campaign, we showcase the important work of the Department of Education and Training in reducing domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) through resources and training for teachers.

Schools play a crucial role in primary prevention. The Department of Education and Training provides training for teachers in the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum, as well as social and emotional learning resources that cover topics ranging from emotional literacy and resilience to positive gender relationships and gender identity. These resources offer age-appropriate learning activities that challenge gender stereotypes and tackle the negative impact of gender inequality.

‘Integrating respectful relationships into the curriculum empowers young people with knowledge, skills and attitudes to build healthy and respectful relationships,’ says Amanda Holt, Teaching and Learning Advisor - Respectful Relationships at the Department of Education and Training.
