16 Days of Activism: Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge

Published

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. It also marks the beginning of the global campaign, 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. Running until Human Rights Days on Tuesday 10 December, 16 Days of Activism encourages individuals, communities, and organisations to take a stand against gender-based violence and be part of the solution.

We are taking part in this global movement by sharing interviews and stories that shine a light on individuals and organisations working to prevent or respond to gender-based violence across the Territory. From health workers and educators to frontline responders and the wider community, everyone has a role to play in addressing this issue.

Today, we are highlighting the important work done by the Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge. Watch Samone Sallik, General Manager of Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge, sharing her powerful message about how we can stop domestic, family and sexual violence.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic, family or sexual violence and is in immediate danger, please call 000. For further support, contact the 24 hour helplines or support services on the Northern Territory Government website.
