World Children's Day: Let's Support Our Kids to Thrive

Published

On Wednesday 20 November, we celebrate World Children's Day, a day to stand up for kids and make sure every child gets the support they need to grow and thrive.

This year’s theme, “For every child, every right,” reminds us that all children deserve to feel safe, loved, and valued.

Here in the Northern Territory, children are a big part of our community. Did you know there are over 16,000 kids under 5 and even more in primary and high school? They’re our future, and it’s up to all of us to make sure they have the best start in life.

At the Department of Children and Families, we’re here to support children, young people, and families. We focus on keeping kids safe and giving them the tools they need to succeed. From helping families through tough times to working with communities to create safe spaces for kids, we’re making a difference every day.

But we can’t do it alone. This World Children's Day, we can all join in and make a difference. It could be as simple as spending extra time with your kids, starting a conversation about what they need, or supporting programs that help families. Every small action adds up.

Together, we can make the Northern Territory a place where every child feels safe, supported, and ready to take on the world. Let’s celebrate our kids and commit to building a brighter future for them.
