Child safety stories now online for Territory families
More families across the Northern Territory can now access child safety resources online, helping parents and carers support children to feel safe, understood and confident at home and in their communities.
We’ve partnered with the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) to make the Safer Communities for Children stories available online for the first time.
Previously used in schools and community programs, the resources can now be accessed directly by families - anytime, anywhere.
The stories use bush animal characters to help children aged 3 to 10:
- understand safety
- talk about their feelings
- recognise who they can trust.
Executive Director of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Prevention, Seranie Gamble, said the resources support early conversations at home.
‘Early intervention is about stopping violence before it starts.
‘These resources give families practical tools to have important conversations in a way that feels safe for children’, Serani said.
NAPCAN NT Manager Meron Looney said the stories also support adults to take an active role in children’s safety.
‘It’s not just about helping children talk about safety - it’s about helping adults listen and respond,’ she said.
How to access
Families can now read or listen to the stories and complete simple activities together from any device.
Access the stories online:
