Homelessness

Homelessness in the Northern Territory looks different to the rest of Australia. It includes not only people sleeping rough, but also those living in severely overcrowded homes, in temporary or unsafe conditions, or moving frequently with no stable place to stay. The NT has the highest rate of homelessness in the country - more than 12 times the national average - and Aboriginal Territorians are disproportionately affected.

Homelessness is deeply connected to issues like housing shortages, family and domestic violence, poverty, and access to services. Addressing it requires strong partnerships between government, service providers, communities, and people with lived experience.
